In this article I will show you why you can’t lock your Facebook profile and how to solve this problem.
If you don’t see Facebook profile lock feature, that’s because this feature is available only in certain countries. If you don’t see such option, it means that you are not located in such country where this feature is available yet.
However, lock feature basically automatically edits your post privacy settings so that only your friends could see your posts and additionally you receive a lock badge next to your Facebook profile.
My suggestion to this problem would be just to manually edit your privacy settings to show your posts only to your friends. This will not get you a lock symbol next to your profile, but privacy settings will be the same as locked profile’s.
Just follow these steps:
- Open Facebook app and login to your Facebook profile.
- Click on the menu icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap on the “Gear” icon at the top right.
- Tap on “Privacy checkup”.
- Select “Who can see what you share”.
- Click on “Continue”.
- Scroll down and under the “Friends and Following” tab, select who can see your friends list on your profile. Choose “Friends”. Select who can see the people, pages and lists you follow, choose “Friends” again.
- Now tap on “Next”.
- Choose who can see your future posts on Facebook. Select that only your friends could see your posts. Also, limit past posts so that your posts that were published earlier would be seen only by your friends and not available to public. So just tap on “Limit” button below.
- Tap on “Next”. Now tap on “Next” one more time. Done!
Now you have manually locked your Facebook profile. It means that Facebook profile has the same privacy settings as a locked Facebook profile.
